Ryan and I grew up on dirt roads a mile apart in the beautiful state of Michigan. We were friends all throughout high school, and then I took off to Central Michigan University in 2014, where I got involved with His House Church. It was there where I met Dylan Banagis who had recently launched The Wanderheart Project with CMU professor Jordan Bruursema. Dylan and I became friends, and soon after, I found myself in New Zealand with Jordan for a backpacking class he was leading. Being an outdoorsman myself, I quickly bonded with the co-founders of The Wanderheart Project. Meanwhile, Ryan was going to film school at DePaul University in Chicago. In the summer, she spent time out west doing some adventuring of her own.

After all of our travels and time apart, Ryan and I found ourselves back at home in Michigan for a summer. Sure enough, we rekindled our life-long friendship, which turned into love and we decided to spend the rest of our lives together. We were married the following spring! Ryan had recently graduated, and we were looking for the next step in our lives. One summer evening not long after our wedding, I was to talking with Dylan who told me that Wanderheart was looking for a couple to take their bus around the country. With their goal of raising awareness for CHD and encouraging adventure, I was instantly attracted. Ryan and I have always dreamed of traveling and making a difference in the world, and this was finally our opportunity. After sharing the exciting news with Ryan, our partnership with Wanderheart was born. Now we are working together to plan the trip and to raise support for our adventure. We are so stoked to be working with The Wanderheart Project on this wild endeavor!

Currently, the founders at Wanderheart own a renovated school bus that had a previous life of adventuring and traveling across the US. However, she needs some work. We need to tune up the engine and make the interior functional and livable for Ryan and me as we take the trip of a lifetime. We are asking you for any level of monetary donation at the link below. Thank you so much in advance for helping us get out there in order to make an impact in the CHD community. We can’t wait to keep you updated as we travel!
