Cameron and I have become friends over the last several months through attending His House Church at Central Michigan University. As we have gotten to know each other, we have learned that we have some similar passions; the outdoors, traveling and helping people.

It has always been a dream of mine to explore the United States and visit its wonderful landscapes. This past summer, I was able to spend a week out in Utah at the national parks, and I just fell in love with the scenery.  I couldn’t believe what I was looking at, but I do know that it made me appreciate God even more. Cameron has also done some great exploring; Yellowstone and Hawaii are some places he has enjoyed.

This past fall, Cameron and I were leaving a retreat and discussing a lot of the amazing things that had happened while we were there; I even got to baptize Cameron!  Our conversation led to our shared desire to go and share the good news of Jesus, and to help people. We also started to talk about how much we love hiking and the outdoors; we just wanted to go enjoy all the beauty the United States has to offer. This conversation launched us into the idea of hiking for heart warriors.

I had heard from several people about a local company called The Wanderheart Project.  Their business makes amazing apparel, and they donate a dollar from every sale to families of children with congenital heart defects.  Their company is mission focused; encouraging people to unplug from technology AND raising awareness for congenital heart defects.

This company piqued my interest.  Cameron & I met with the founders of the company, and decided that we could work together to make a difference in the lives of many.

Our plan is to take a 90 day road trip out west. We will be spending the majority of our time at the national parks & campgrounds where we will be hiking one mile for every $25 we raise for congenital heart defects. Though our goal is to hike at least 200 miles (raise $5,000), we are prepared to hike further pending an influx of donations.  We intend to use the funds we raise to bless heart families financially, as well as to provide scholarships for children with congenital heart defects to attend a summer camp designed specifically for children with health challenges. Congenital heart defects are the number one birth defect in the world, taking the lives of more children than all types of childhood cancers combined.

Would you partner with us by donating financially?  We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to you for helping us get out west to raise awareness and help bless the CHD community!

This will be an adventure that we will never forget, and we are thrilled to do it all in honor of children with congenital heart defects. We are thankful that you are part of this journey!
